Sleep Dentistry

Serving Bethesda, Clarksville
and the Greater Maryland area

For many of our more invasive procedures, and sometimes for patients who suffer from extreme anxiety, we offer sedation or sleep dentistry options, in which you can be completely unconscious throughout your procedure.

Sleep dentistry is done under general anesthesia, so you will feel no pain and no anxiety throughout the procedure, and will have no memory of the procedure upon awakening.

While most sedation dentistry patients find that a combination of strong painkilling medications and conscious sedation or nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is sufficient to provide relief from pain and anxiety associated with most invasive procedures, if this is not enough, we do offer the sleep dentistry option. We have a licensed anesthesiologist on site at each of our locations to ensure that the procedures is safe and reliable.

When you choose sleep dentistry, we will first conduct a thorough medical examination to ensure that you don't have any medical conditions that might make the procedure too risky.

Once we are confident that you are healthy enough for the sedation, we will schedule an appointment for you to come in for your procedure. We will provide you with guidelines for fasting and other issues before you arrive for your appointment. We will also ask that you arrange for transportation home following your procedure, as you may be groggy for some time as the anesthesia wears off.

Once you do arrive, we will have our licensed anesthesiologist administer a general sedative, to put you to sleep for the duration of your procedure.

When you awaken, your procedure will be complete.
